The project examines the situations of national minorities confronted with conflicts in the states where they reside. It focuses on comparing Croatian-Serbian and German-Danish relations to gain deeper insights into the international political aspects of such relationships. The research methodology includes a descriptive approach, comparative methodology, induction and deduction, as well as statistical methods. The scientific objectives of the project include analyzing political processes and dynamics of national minorities, as well as studying political institutions relevant to their existence and participation in political life. The project takes an interdisciplinary approach and explores political, sociological, cultural, and historical aspects of relations between minority and majority societies. The role of researchers contributes to the analysis of international political aspects of these relationships. Expected outcomes include recommendations for political actors, contributing to regional stability and reconciliation, and strengthening cooperation among minority communities.
The political recommendations, which are to be one of the main goals of the project, will be marked by synthesis as a process of integrating the knowledge gained within the project. Using a descriptive method, project collaborators will employ the concept of writing history through the "Shared History" approach, where different entities, despite having different experiences or opinions, share a certain part of history and are connected by similar problems and traumas. From this, they will draw conclusions that will yield common lessons for the future. These lessons are intended to be politically applicable through the analysis of problems and finding solutions in the form of political recommendations.
The scientific impact of this research goal includes the creation of new scientific knowledge about the causes, course, and consequences of interethnic conflicts. We expect that the research results will contribute to a better understanding of the complexity of ethnic conflicts and provide a foundation for further research in the fields of conflict studies, history, political science, and sociology.
The social impact of this research goal lies in the potential application of the research results to inform policies and strategies aimed at preventing interethnic conflicts, building peace and reconciliation, and protecting the rights of national minorities. The beneficiaries of the research results could include government officials, non-governmental organizations, international organizations, academic circles, and civil society.
The application of the research results could lead to a reduction in violence, strengthening interethnic dialogue, promoting tolerance and respect for human rights, and improving stability and social peace. It is expected that this research will provide a foundation for the development of policies and practices that will contribute to building sustainable communities that respect diversity and ensure the rights of all their members.
